General
A bonsai subject that looks very fragile because of the thin, feathery leaves. The Tamarisk is considered to be a tough tree and generally is found in nature in areas that are windy and alkaline or with salt water nearby. It can bear brutal heat and cold conditions.

Typical Styles
Weeping Style (Shidare)
Informal Upright (Moyogi)
Root Over Rock (Sekijojo)
Double-Trunk Style (Sokan)

Sun and Temperature
Full sun, partial in peak of summer heat. Protect from hard frosts.

Watering
Daily watering and always keep soil moist. Use rainwater if possible.

Feeding
Feed every two weeks through the growing season.

Pruning/Wiring
Prune branches in late Fall/Winter. Wire new growth into gentle weeping arcs.

Repotting
Mid Spring before buds break.

Propagation
From hard wood cuttings in Winter, soft wood cuttings in Summer, air layering in late Spring, or from seeds.

Pests
Generally trouble free.
